Derinchi: AUDIO STORY

Derinchi is a dwarf who grows up as the constant target of jokes and ridicule in his village. Mocked for his height and even named after it, he learns to live quietly on the margins of society. Yet life has its own mysterious way of balancing cruelty and kindness. In this poignant tale, a man dismissed by everyone slowly reveals a strength of spirit that transforms how the world sees him.

Listen to the audio version of this heart touching tale of courage.

Some of my books (collection of short stories, novels, and more) are available in print and digital editions. They gather many unique journeys, quieter questions, and stories that continue beyond this page.

This sounds like a deeply moving and meaningful story. The journey of Derinchi—from being ridiculed and pushed to the margins to revealing his quiet strength—beautifully reflects the resilience of the human spirit. Stories like this remind us that true worth is not defined by appearances or society’s judgments, but by courage, dignity, and inner strength. Thank you for sharing such a touching and thoughtful tale.

Dear Verma’ji, thank you so much for your thoughtful words and for sensing the spirit of the story so beautifully.

Derinchi, in many ways, represents those quiet lives that the world often overlooks. Sometimes the greatest strength does not arrive with noise or recognition. It simply endures, patiently, until the world learns to see it. I am glad the story resonated with you in that way.

And yes, the story is freely available for everyone, audio version on YouTube: https://youtu.be/Wn33FqMVsEU and the written version on StoryNookOnline: https://storynookonline.com/2020/08/16/derinchi/

Stories, after all, find their true life only when they are shared.

I love how you write stories with characters who are different. Not all the same. People of all walks of life.

Yes, I want to write about many things, many places, many cultures, many sounds, many sights, many smells, many people, and many many other things about India. That’s how I think that I will be able to paint a holistic picture of my country through my stories. And if God wills and I keep writing, then these stories will live even after many many years of my existence.
